Not Revit specific, but definitely a nice hack. Get a multi-button mouse. Use either the built-in software, or a program like AutoHotkey to reprogram the extra buttons. Some great buttons to have at your mouse-fingertips are Shift, Cntrl, Tab, Esc. Since you already attached an image click the "Use render appearance" chcekbox on the Graphics tab. You need to unpaint the walls. Next to the paint tool on the ribbon, there's a little down arrow, click it and select the Remove Paint command. Then the materials you put in the wall system family should show.

Even college courses that explicitly teach Revit do a piss poor job of actually preparing people to do it professionally in a workshared model. What I notice most is CPU and RAM choking long before GPU (Revit is almost entirely CPU-dependent). So, I agree basically with NoxMortalitus with 16GB (that's my new minimum in builds, 32GB ideally) and a decent i7 CPU. Then throw 300-500ish on a GPU (for multi-monitor, other GPU-accelerated software, etc).First off, it works and works VERY well. Second, to get the same amount of issue-free, low maintenance, 99.99% uptime, permissions abilities, sharing via links to distribute to non-Revit users and everything in between, it's a bargain deal. If you work alone, LT is fine. If you have multiple modelers, full version for worksharing. This is key for using a group model simultaneously. With a large multi-family building my experience is that a floor is modeled as a single element. With a single family residence I've often modeled joists, decking, finish floor and ceiling separately. Create a generic annotation family. Make a label and edit the label. Add 3 Category parameters: Note text; Note number; Sheet number. Add the note number parameter to the label parameters and make the sample value XX. (Or however many digits you want the note to be) Click ok or whatever then draw a box around your label. Save. Load into project. The open shelf cabinet configurations are included. The sizes are instance parameters. They’ve worked really well for us.
