My primary oil level increases as my oil level decreases over time. I first noticed this when I drained 3x as much primary oil out of there than should have been (about 3 quarts or more of used/black fluid). Currently, I just monitor my oil level and change both again each time it seems to have "exchanged" a quart or more.
