The Elkmont Historic District is a collection of preserved and not so preserved cabins leftover from Elkmont’s early days in the early 1900s as a logging town and a resort for well- heeled Knoxvillians. The logging train brought tourists and vacationers to the station in Elkmont which was a decent sized town back in the hey day of logging.Elkmont is a popular destination in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
