Shilen barrel review.

I run Proof carbon barrels on a couple of my hunting rifles. One a 6 creed and the other a 6.5x284. They both shoot .25 moa. I have a couple hunters in 6 and 6.5 creed with Bartlien barrels as well. These rifles are shooters as well shooting sub .5 with factory Hornady ammunition in the 6.5 from Hornady and Copper Creek in the 6 creedmoor.A premium action requires a premium barrel. Shilen makes great quality barrels, but not because the rifling style. The performance comes from good quality blanks with sharp tooling, good quality control, so on, so on. The ratchet rifling is marketing. Maybe it makes a difference, but it's not enough of a difference for a mere mortal like myself to notice. Don't forget to pay attention to the chamber. I agree that you should start with good barrel, but the chamber is equally as important. I bought a 10/22 Shilen barrel a couple of years ago and the chamber was long. You could drop a round in the chamber and the bullet wouldn't engrave the rifleing lands. It was quite sloppy to be honest about it.
