I just switched to a K&N air filter in course of the 24k mikes service on my 2017 R1200GS which also included a valve adjustment. The engine runs much steadier in low rev below 2500 really nice in 1st and 2nd gear in traffic and off-road. It accelerates really smooth - quite a difference.

On the 'hell yes' side, the 850GSA burns Regular gas, gets 57+ mpg and is slightly lighter than the 1200GS. The brake caliper recall is because some will seep small amounts of brake fluid. If yours look good and are dry, I wouldn't worry about it. The brake light recall I have not heard about. I do all my own service except for 12,000 mile valve clearance services. Update: I completed 6850 kms on my 2007 GSA without any intermittent starting issue. The suspected kill switch is the problem which I did not touch through out my trip and instead used the key to turn the ignition off. solution 1: Do not use the kill switch to cut the power. It now has 47,000 km on it and I have had no issues of any kind. Just routine maintenance. I was anal during the break-in period to strictly comply with BMW's instructions regarding maximum RPM. Up until about 30,000 km, it was using some oil. Factory lowered. I have a 2017 R1200GSA, and I have the factory lowered suspension and love it. I can now sit on the bike and put both feet flat on the ground with my 28" inseam. I wasn't even able to do that with an RT from 2008 on. The front and rear shocks are shorter, as is the side stand.
