I have farmed a plot of 9x9 inferium plants about 20 times and havent gotten a single extra seed, crafting the originals in the 9x9 manually. If you mean the essence, dont farm it at all. make a mob grinder and you'll have more than you could ever use, and you need the mob drops.So for those seeds, you will need to craft extra ones. The other seeds have a 1% chance of giving an extra seed and same tier farmland adds another 10% (so 11% for extra seeds). Inferium seeds should be planted on the highest tier farmland because it gives more inferium essence per harvest (3.5 on tier 6).

Like others said, crop sticks allow you to breed them, but then you end up with a lot of non/stackable seeds. So I don't recommend this unless you go all out and max all their stats.
