This makes the AR 10 better for hunting large game. It also gives it more structure penetrating power. AR10 is like any other weapon. Look at what you have in and on it. You have a grip pod, old school triangle gas block/front site, heavy rear shoulder stock etc. No clue on the weight of your optic also. That being said, 9 pounds isn't heavy.
