As Vans became more and more popular in both Retail and Outlet, the Outlets couldn’t keep up with the demand of stock. They were basically barely getting anything from retail to fill the shelves. If your boss placed an emphasis on a collared shirt, I would advise against Vans. Most Vans are canvas sneakers, and thus should be relegated to casual wear. Some business casual shoes I'd recommend are loafers or derbies. Those are a safe bet for any business casual environment. I love the alternative builds - box vans, Prius life, truck bed builds, minivans, SUV builds, schoolies... there are many choices if you want to keep it reasonable on the build. Rent / mortgage is so insane up here that you could drop $40k on a new van and still come out ahead - it just depends on your financial situation and where you live.
