The Adventurer Plate functionality was introduced in Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.1 alongside the Instant Portraits as a way to show off your creativity with photos and poses with your character. They were "officially released" in 6.2, but that change actually made an already not-so-practical system just outright broken, with portraits not displaying properly when they should.

My more curious gripe is my overall ping ever since Shadowbringers launched. During Stormblood my average ping was 75, now I average a little over 100 with regular spikes into the 150s.Unless you play the game between 2am and 10am EST, you will get on average 15-20% packet loss along with DOUBLE the lag you should be getting. Lag Spikes on Cerberus. I resubscribed a few days ago and noticed the occasional lag spike in the game. It happens everywhere to some degree, but seems to be much worse during instanced dungeon content. Everything freezes in place for anywhere up to 10 or so seconds, making it difficult to stay out of floor circles and the like.
Spikes in cpu usage while playing ffxiv causes insane lag spikes. When playing ff14 and only ff14 sometimes my CPU usage jumps to 100% and the state repository service seems to be causing this. It only happens with ff14, no other games. I can't find anyone who has had a similar issue online. Probably the ISP you use passes through a really bad node nearby the game server and they haven't bothered to reroute the traffic. Calling your ISP to reroute and/or using a VPN (Mudfish looks shady but it's cheap and easy nowadays) is what you can do for now. 7. EDIT / UPDATE What we know is this is mostly AT&T Internet customers that are affected. After 3 days Square-Enix has finally stated they are aware of the problem and working to get it fixed. (Source: These forums & Twitter) This is a problem at the server hosting company with a link between them (NTT.net) and the AT&T link, so they claim.
But so far, using VPN seems to alleviate the problem at the cost of higher ping, depend on the countries you're choosing. You should try using TRACERT command on Windows Command Prompt and use your FFXIV server IP. See if there are any packet losses happening on the way.
