The effect of altitude on carb performance is vastly exaggerated. My drz has an FCR39 (no choke). I live at 2000 ft and my trail rides take me routinely beyond 7500ft. It's a *bit richer, but there isn't a dramatic loss of power or anything. The DRZ guys are taking them off thier 400's when nearly new and selling them for $50 to $75 bucks. A CV type carb somewhat compensates for the elevation change due to vacuum perting the needle and the larger bore may permit a 'deeper breath' by the engine.Plus, there is much more info readily available online for the fcr carbs vs the lectron (only because its new. In a few years there will be much much more info on the lectron). Also carbs only barely make extra power, its all about the throttle response, and both choices are good choices. Just make sure you plan for the future.
