M4 vs 1301.

The M4 is more of an iconic battle proven shotgun but really only has a self defense role in my eyes. The 1301 comp pro can do everything, sporting clays, general range fun and is light and nimble enough to play a self defense role if need be. At least with my 2 shotguns, both 21" guns set up the same, Benelli showed heavier than the 1301 by about a 1/2 pound. Actual weight not manufacturers claim. Funny though, I weighed both my 24" guns, 1301 and Benelli, the Benelli was lighter just slightly, and it has wood stocks, just slightly being less than 1/4 pound.

Benelli M3 with a shortened barrel in use with the NZDF. From a military and police perspective, the gun makes a lot of sense. The Benelli M3 can be a little harder to find compared to the M2 and M4 and is right in the middle when it comes to price between the two. Also no optics rail.
