Gsg 1911 22 replacement barrel.
So my father-in-law bought a GSG 1911-22 in Arizona. He would like to give it to my wifeb, but it has a threaded barrel which is not allowed in California where we are. I can't find a replacement barrel anywhere let alone without threads. I know we can gall the threads or permanently affix the thread protector, but we would rather not if possible.

The GSG .22 is a different matter. It has about the same relationship to the .45 1911 as a K 22 once did to the K 38 revolver, within the limitations of blowback and locked breech operation. The GSG gun allows training without the blast recoil and expense of the .45. That's not a bad thing in any shooter's book.

Mine sometimes will, depending on the exact load. Install the new sight and tighten the Allen screw until the sight just stops sliding. DON'T overtighten the Allen screw.

While they both have their merits, I think overall a dedicated .22 gives a family a second complete firearm vs. two slides and one frame. I vote go with the GSG 1911.
