Fume Ultra Greatsword is a good weapon and looks awesome but I think it needs like 30 dex. Also it only barely outdamages the standard greatsword that has a much lower stat requirement. The straight sword is good if you buff it with dark resins cos of its innate dark damage. Also it has better range than most straight swords.

Drakekeeper's Ultra Greatsword Like a strength zwei and a better Old Knight UGS. It still sucks. You also have to kill Drakekeepers to get it. Very fun. Black Knight Ultra Greatsword Short reach, split damage, and zwei moveset. Bad. It is also worse in every way to the Smelter Sword. 4 units of weight is hardly a reason to use this weapon.
The weapon is terrible in DkS 2 unless you use powerstance and Sacred Oath with the engraved gauntlets. EDIT: To elaborate, it's slow, EXTREMELY vertical, easy to parry and back stab, uses too much stamina to combo as well as being really heavy. If you want to do big weapons go with great hammers over ultra swords.I don't really see the benefit of powerstanced ultra greatswords. I also prefer to play shieldless, so the two-hand greatsword moveset doesn't work for me, but Ultra Greatswords feel better two-handed, or even one with a shield. Generally true, but the Greatsword is one of the worst weapons in the game to infuse because it does in fact have good scaling. If you want an infused Ultra either the Lost Sinner Sword or a Fire Black Knight Ultra will be more effective (generally -- a Fire Black Knight Ultra isn't great in Iron Keep)
There isn’t a “best” ultra-greatsword but a couple personal favourites are the generic greatsword as it’s simply really powerful and it has great 1H R1’s, the Smelter Sword because of its massive F-off heavy attacks and the Fume Ultra Greatsword for looking badass as hell and having a great Moveset and good range. 5.
